Excellence in Education

In 1989, Margaret Miller Ibrahim received a Juris Doctor degree from U.C. Davis, School of Law with the top honor of Order of the Coif, having graduated in the top 10% of her law school class.
She received numerous
American Jurisprudence Awards.

Margaret Miller Ibrahim graduated University in San Francisco with
Magna Cum Laude honors in 1985.

In 1989 she was admitted to the State Bar of California.

Prestigious Skadden Arps Fellowship

In 1989, she was awarded the prestigious Skadden Arps Fellowship from the number 2 law firm in the United States. She was selected out of over 600 applicants across the United States. As a Skadden Fellow, she represented immigrants and engaged in civil rights litigation. She worked as a Skadden Fellow Immigration Attorney at the International Institute of the East Bay (now the International Institute of the Bay Area).

Former U.S. Immigration Official (INS, now CIS)

Margaret Miller Ibrahim served as a U.S. Immigration official for over 9 years. She served as an Asylum Officer in the U.S. Immigration San Francisco Asylum Office and decided over 7000 asylum cases for the U.S. Immigration Service. She also decided Withholding of Deportation cases, stowaway cases, and Work Authorization applications. As a US Immigration official, she was responsible for deciding asylum cases in California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii.

As one of the first Asylum Officers in San Francisco's new Asylum program, she re-drafted the U.S. Operations Instructions which were then published and became formal policy in all Asylum Offices in the United States. Her decisions on asylum cases were selected by the Asylum Headquarters in Washington D.C. and used as training tools for Asylum Officers throughout the U.S. She was selected to train new Asylum Officers who were then certified as Officers based solely on her training.

Margaret Miller Ibrahim has extensive knowledge of the inner-workings of the U.S. CIS and the U.S. affirmative asylum system. Her knowledge both as a former Asylum Officer and Immigration Attorney allow her clients to receive the highest level of legal representation. She has a depth of understanding of how the U.S. Immigration system will view each client's particular asylum or other case leading to a significant advantage to her clients.

Margaret Miller Ibrahim provides her clients with a safe and confidential environment in which to discuss their case. Her real world knowledge of the U.S. Immigration system is a strong benefit to each of her clients.

Lecture Series on Asylum Law

Margaret Miller Ibrahim has lectured on Asylum Law and Practice at the Santa Clara University School of Law. She is currently preparing a lecture on asylum law practice for the U.C. Davis School of Law.
